Comment from the Ambassador

I am very proud to have been involved in this project and associated Comgest’s name with the Maison de l’Avenir. It’s a house full of life and joy, pleasant and very much appreciated by the sick children and their families, despite their fragile health status. Our involvement in this ambitious project enabled the association to sustainably improve the house’s infrastructure (plumbing) and reduce the association’s annual budget by 4-5% (photovoltaic solar panels/solar water heater). These savings will be used to further improve the living conditions of the families of the sick children.

Description

The objective of the project is to improve, in a sustainable manner, the living conditions at the Maison de L’Avenir, a house that welcomes families with sick children. Repairs to the home include the installation of photovoltaic solar panels and a solar water heater as well as fixing the plumbing. Most of these vulnerable families come from rural areas.

The association L’Avenir supports children with cancer and their families by providing social and psychological support.

Impact / Main indicators

• Photovoltaic solar panels and a solar water heater were installed at the end of December 2017, allowing 100% renewable energy to supply the Maison de l’Avenir, which means a savings of approx. 6,000
euros per year.
• Plumbing repairs were undertaken in various parts of the house.
• Number of beneficiaries: several hundred per year
• Better living conditions for the families enable them to focus all their energy to support and accompany their sick child.
