CRISIS IN UKRAINE

Ukraine and neighbouring countries

DESCRIPTION

SUPPORT TO THE POPULATIONS AFFECTED BY THE CRISIS IN UKRAINE – COMPLETED
When the crisis in Ukraine broke out at the end of February 2022, the employees of the Comgest Group immediately informed the Board of The Comgest Foundation of their solidarity with the populations affected by the conflict, to which their many individual actions bore witness. The Comgest Foundation committed in turn to joining them in lending its support.
In such a context, we responded to calls from two organisations which, thanks to their experience in deploying emergency operations and their international networks and local relays, are used to intervening effectively in this type of situation:
– The French Red Cross, which supported the affected populations in the conflict zone, mainly via the ICRC and the Ukrainian Red Cross, the displaced Ukrainian populations fleeing Ukraine into neighbouring countries, in coordination with the local Red Cross national societies (Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova) and the International Federation of the Red Cross, as well as the displaced Ukrainian populations arriving in France thanks to the French Red Cross volunteers
– The Fondation de France, which, in coordination with several European foundations, provided emergency aid to cover the basic needs of thousands of families in Ukraine. The donations were used to help local associations in Poland, Moldavia and Romania to provide support and to welcome families forced to flee Ukraine.
