HABITAT & HUMANISME

France

DESCRIPTION

ADDICTION PREVENTION PROGRAM
For over 36 years, the Habitat et Humanisme Federation has been working to promote integration through housing and to recreate social links in response to the exclusion and isolation of people in precarious situations.
A large majority of the people housed by Habitat et Humanise are faced with various forms of insecurity (resources, housing, social breakdowns and exclusion, lack of a residence permit, etc.), thus creating difficulties in several areas, particularly health. The volunteers and employees of the association who accompany the tenants are sometimes powerless in the face of certain situations: addictions, mental health, poor nutrition, etc.
The objective of the project is to support addicts housed by Habitat et Humanisme by developing a national strategy to combat addiction and provide territorial support to associations. The ultimate goal is for beneficiaries to be «actors» in their own health.
The Comgest Foundation has decided to support the work to establish this strategy and to support its implementation.

COMMENT FROM THE AMBASSADOR

Houda Kilito

Building upon these outcomes, Habitat et Humanisme remains committed to improving the health and well-being for all its residents.
After implementing a programme focused on addiction in 2022 (which will continue into 2024), the Movement will broaden its scope from 2023 to embrace other themes identified in the diagnosis: mental health, aging, and health promotion. This ambitious action plan will involve volunteers, employees and beneficiaries of the Movement, in association with local and national health actors.
