COMMENT FROM THE AMBASSADOR

Lavinia Borcia

Romania, my home country, can be a challenging place to obtain appropriate medical assistance. Poverty and corruption are still prevalent, and you’d better not get sick if you don’t know any doctor personally. Curable illnesses are already difficult to address; most of the time, there is nothing left for terminal diseases: no time, no money, no dignity.
I was particularly touched by the actions of Hospices of Hope in Romania and other Eastern European countries, leading the way in palliative care. The first projects supported by The Comgest Foundation were based in Romania and Moldova.
This new project focuses on the recruitment and training of a new home care team in Chisinau, Moldova.
I thank The Comgest Foundation for its support in promoting access to care and dignity across Eastern Europe.
