DESCRIPTION
DISSEMINATION OF AGROECOLOGY IN THE SOUTHERN MEDITERRANEAN BASIN
Terre & Humanisme was created in 1994 and contributes to the dissemination of the scientific knowledge of agroecology techniques in France as well as abroad.
The purpose of this project is to contribute to the food sovereignty of countries in the Mediterranean basin by promoting sustainable peasant and family farming, which preserves the environment, values the farming profession, contributes to climate-change resilience and responds to the consumption needs of the local population. This is a new phase in a project already supported by the Comgest Foundation for the period 2020-2022.
The two specific objectives of this new phase are:
– Strengthen and consolidate the technical and teaching skills of agroecology facilitators in the Mediterranean network
– Facilitate the structuring of a Mediterranean exchange network and the transmission of knowledge between peers
The direct beneficiaries will be 14 rural trainers, 14 farmers, 7 local partner structures and their members. The indirect beneficiaries are other farmers in the local communities, students, associations, and consumers, as well as various national promoters of agroecology (associations, universities, institutions).
IMPACT / MAIN INDICATORS
• One workshop held in Jordan in May 2025 to co-develop a training programme for local farmers
• Two-day regional training held in the first quarter of 2026

Supporting this project is key for me given I believe agroecology is essential to address some of the most pressing challenges we face today: environmental degradation, food insecurity and climate change. This project represents a powerful model for change across the Mediterranean basin. It’s a pleasure to be contributing to the promotion of sustainable agriculture, the empowerment of local communities and the preservation of traditional knowledge. Through the support The Comgest Foundation already provided to Terre & Humanisme, I have already witnessed how knowledge exchange can be an accelerator of change, and I’m looking forward to seeing this project grow.
